A Bit About Our History
2010
MusicGlove Inception
Researchers from the University of California in Irvine begin development of MusicGlove.
2011
Flint Rehab Incorporates
These researchers form a company to advance the neurorehabilitation field. The four founders are: Nizan Friedman, Ph.d (CEO), Dan Zondervan, Ph.d (Vice President), David Reinkensmeyer, Ph.d (Clinical Advisor), and Mark Bachman (Technical Advisor).
2012
MusicGlove Commercialization
2013
FDA Approval
FlintRehab registers with FDA and is approved as a medical manufacturer by Food and Drug Branch of California. MusicGlove receives EMBC’s “Most Innovative Device” award.
2014
MusicGlove Commercial Launch
FlintRehab starts selling MusicGlove and receives Phase II funding from NIH to complete a randomized controlled trial of MusicGlove in people with stroke and spinal cord injury.
2015
FlintRehab Launches Blog
FlintRehab creates a neurologic injury blog, begins development of FitMi, and receives NIH Phase II funding to develop a neurorehab wheelchair attachment.
2016
Randomized Controlled Trial Completed
Results in a blinded randomized controlled trial show that MusicGlove improves hand mobility significantly more than conventional exercises. FlintRehab also receives NIH Phase II funding to develop a wearable for rehab and launches the “Stroke Support Group with Flint Rehab” on FaceBook.
2017
FitMi Commercial Launch
FlintRehab starts selling FitMi, receives AOTA’s “Best of Show” award, and receives funding to complete a randomized controlled trial of FitMi. FlintRehab blog reaches 1,000,000 visitors.
2018
Two Million Readers and Counting
FlintRehab receives NIH funding to develop an exercise cycle for Alzheimer’s, and receives NIH funding to develop a functional exercise device for people with neurologic injury. FlintRehab blog reaches 2,000,000 annual visitors.
2019
CT App Commercial Launch
FlintRehab starts selling the CT Speech and Cognitive Therapy App, receives the RESNA “Impact Award” and reaches their 10,000 devices sold milestone.
